This week’s show explores the North Middlesex Tertiary Escarpment, or Scarp as it is known. Subject of a forthcoming book by Nick Papadimitriou, published by Hodder and Stoughton in April 2012.
Here’s some footage from the walk we took on Scarp in June with a reading from Nick and music by Europa51.

    This is extremely beautiful and poetic. I love the combination of geology, wandering and history. I’m very much looking forward to the book.

    Ah, my girlfriend pointed out that ‘serried ranks’ is an utter cliche. Bad because this piece was presented on Newsnight recently as part of my book ‘Scarp’ and was heard by possibly millions of viewers. Shame of shames! I bow my hatted head in total humiliation …
