This week’s show comes to you entirely from Leytonstone & Leyton as Nick and John explore the valley of the Philly Brook – the buried and forgotten stream that runs beneath the streets of the London zone that begat Alfred Hitchcock, London’s short-lived ‘Left Bank’ and the great Panjandrum

Here we are recording the ‘studio’ element of the show in John’s makeshift set-up in E11. There are also field recordings in search of the stream where John and Nick are joined by local historian David Boote, and reading by Heidi Lapaine with music by Europa 51.

The show is broadcast on Resonance 104.4fm Wednesday at 5pm and available for download.

Here’s a very short preview

  1. Fantastic. I live on Fairlop Road E11, which the Fillebrook runs under (and can be heard burbling in a culvert under a manhole cover). Looking forward to hearing this.
